Owner & History : Château Puybarbe, Cuvée
Apanage, is owned by the Famille Orlandi, based in
the AOC of Côtes de Bourg. The property ,consists of
35 hectares. « Apanage » in French means « a royal
privileged land » given to a third person. From a
historical point of view, and from the
historical records of the city of Bourg, the word «
Apanage » refers to the dicult period with Louis XIV
during « The Fronde » ( civil wars between 1648 and
1653).

Grape Varieties : 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet
Sauvignon
Terroir : Clay-limestone soils.
Surface : 35 ha
Average Age : 35 years old
Vineyard Management : Mecanical harvest
Yield : 44 ha
Vini cation : In stainless steel thermo regulated. Cold
pre-fermentation maceration lasted 5 days and
alcoholic fermentation took place
under controlled temperatures for 10-15 days
followed by post-fermentation maceration for 25-30
days.
Ageing : This cuvée is accomplished from the
selection of the best vats of grape varieties Merlot
and Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in 3
dierent varietes of 300 liters of new French oak
(80%) barells during 18 months. To avoid too much
the aromas of toasted.
