Family property since 1963, the third generation manages the
estate. Chateau La Rode is located in Saint-¨Philippe d’Aiguilhe, on the slope of
Castillon la Bataille that is close to Saint-Emilon, 50 km to the North-East
of Bordeaux.
Until 2008 sustainable agriculture was practiced at the
Chateau and in 2012, Chateau la Rode converted to organic agriculture.

Surface : 11,60 Ha
Soils : Clay chalk and boulbenes
Plant density: 4 500 vines/hectare
Average age of the vines: 30 years
Blending : 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet
Sauvignon
Care of vines : pruning, debudding, at the end of July a
green harvest takes place to have optimal yield control.
Mechanical harvest
Winemaking: in concrete stainless steel tanks, 3 to 4 weeks
of maceration according to the year, with control of the
temperature.
