CHATEAU LA CHEZE

Owner & History : Ideally located on the Côtes de Bordeaux
hills overlooking the Garonne valley, Château LA CHEZE has
been producing wines since the 16th century.
The Château was built in 1515 by Lord
of La Chéze. The estate is made of 30 ha in one piece, with
just 10 ha planted in vines. Benefiting from a great sun
exposure and natural drainage, the clay and limestones slopes
are producing a dense, precise and fruit driven merlot based
wine under the expertise of Jean-François and his wife
Laurence Rontein. One of the 1rst vineyards to have followed
strict rules of sustainable viticulture since the early age.

Terroir : Gravely slopes on a limestone sub-soil

Vineyard Management : Mechanical and hand harvest

Vinication : In temperature controlled stainless steel vats .
Gentle maceration and extraction to preserve finesse and
elegance.
Ageing : Half in tanks and half in French oak barrels for 12
months.

Tasting:

Deep purple color, opulent nose of ripe berries (cassis and
cherry ) combined with licorice, vanilla and spicy hints. The
mouth is ample and fleshy with nice integrated tannins followed by a
long and generous finish. To enjoy now on its own or in
accompaniment to red meat or poultry.
Production : 40 to 50 000 bottles
